Located in Aldiwck not far from the town center is Aldwick Duck Pond.
A quiet wildlife haven for wildlife with a history rooted in the local community. The site was originally a cattle pond for the Margaret House estate, which served as a Dr. Barnardo’s home for boys starting in 1937.
After the home closed, local residents formed the Aldwick Preservation Society in 1977 to save the site from being paved over for housing. Now a registered charity, the Society continues to own and manage the pond and its surrounding greenery through volunteer efforts and fundraising events.
The pond is a sanctuary for ducks and moorhens, featuring colorful bird houses and specialized ramps for easy water access.
